2024 Colombia Sourcing Trip - School Visit & Cultural Exchange
Tabal Chocolate was fortunate to make a school visit while we were in El Carmen de Chucuri, Colombia. Part of the purpose of that visit was to build relationships with the next generation of cacao farmers.
Criollo Yariguies Cacao Project - COLOMBIA
For the past six years we have been working with an amazing group of farmers in Santander Colombia. We are honored that they have the trust in us at Tabal Chocolate to be part of their initiative to plant more criollo trees in their community. Criollo is one of the rarest genetic varieties of cacao on the planet and has a delicate taste. This group of farmers has grouped together to plant thousands of trees and to educate additional farmers on the process needed to prune and raise the trees.
Colombia Origin Sourcing trip 2024
Tabal Chocolate was fortunate to make a school visit while we were in El Carmen de Chucuri, Colombia. Part of the purpose of that visit was to build relationships with the next generation of cacao farmers. 70% of the 17,000 people who live in the community are involved in cacao farming. We also introduced the students to Wisconsin and had a beautiful exchange of questions about our respective cultures. Ben, a 5th grader, was our Wauwatosa representative on all things related to grade schools.
2024 Colombia Origin Trip - Hotel Opening & Chocolate Tasting
While sourcing cacao near El Carmen de Chucuri, Colombia, Tabal Chocolate had the great honor of being the very first guests in a brand new Cacao Hotel. It was very special to be invited to cut a ribbon for the opening and then host a chocolate tasting for 20 special guests and government officials. The hotel plans to host cacao focused visitors from around the world as well as people coming for chocolate tastings and other pairing events.
